Luxury and elegance at the Hilton Hotel in Milan
with Neolith Calacatta Gold

Elegant, cool and contemporary as well as classical, Milan is no doubt the Italian design city. So, it’s hardly odd that Hotel Hilton in Milan (in the heart of the downtown Direzionale district) would decide to renovate its interior in an attempt to reflect the Milanese look par excellence.

Interior designers from the Hickson Design Association (THDP) prescribed Neolith Calacatta Gold in order to create a look that would remind guests of the rooms found in luxury Milan homes.

THDP found inspiration in Villa Necchi Campiglio, a 1930’s building designed by architect Pietro Portaluppi which stands out due to the sober and rationalist exterior as well as the rich and pleasant interior. This was the reason Neolith Calacatta Gold was chosen as it perfectly fit with this characteristic style since Calacatta marble is a symbol of luxury.

In comparison with the original stone, this Neolith model has the added advantage of the combined exclusive and delicate design providing the look and touch of Carrara marble with the high-tech properties inherent to Neolith Sintered Stone.

With the innovative digital decoration technique Neolith Digital Design (NDD), Calacatta Gold offers an impeccable marble-inspired design with dramatic veins that accurately reflect the very nature of this stone yet with a touch of gold to provide sophistication and brightness.

Aware of the properties offered by manmade products versus natural ones, THDP was thrilled to have found a sustainable alternative to authentic marble as the marble mining industry in Italy tends to modify the natural environment. However, Neolith Calacatta Gold, makes it possible to create an authentic luxurious marble look without the sustainability, availability, maintenance and cost concerns associated with the natural stone.

On the other hand, the inherent characteristics of natural marble make it not all that practical in meeting architects’ and designers’ needs when engaged in reform projects. Yet Neolith offers all sorts of possibilities due to its lightness and easy handling, as well as the fact it can be installed on already-existing surfaces.

Another advantage of Neolith are the excellent properties as concerns its compactness and durability. Resistant to scratching, impacts, abrasion, frost, high temperatures and UV ray exposure, it is the ideal material for heavy-traffic premises like hotels.

It was for all these reasons that Neolith Calacatta Gold was chosen to panel the reception desk counters and fireplace in the hotel entrance hall with 45 degree edging to create a fissure-free effect.
The final result was a sophisticated and luxurious design that perfect complements the brass and bronze finishes selected for the hall color palette.
